Yet Chris Wilder and his men are refusing to settle, and last night’s stunning victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Bramall Lane fired the Blades into second place in the Sky Bet Championship table.

A phenomenal victory over a Wolves side who spent millions this summer, Wilder’s men outclassed the visitors on the field, although an early dismissal for centre-half Conor Coady did help the home side’s cause.

The in-form Leon Clarke, fresh off the back of two goals in United’s 4-2 victory at Hillsborough in the Steel City Derby, put yet another of his former side’s to the sword last night, and another two goals ensured the 32-year-old was named man of the match for the second consecutive game.
