Reading's impending points deduction could lead to the exit of John Swift in the January transfer window, with Norwich, Wolves and Crystal Palace among those keen, Football League World can exclusively reveal.

The Royals have started this season pretty decently and have earned some good results of late with wins over Fulham and Middlesbrough getting them into the top half.

Indeed, they have some thoroughly decent attacking players in the shape of Swift, Alen Halilovic and Ovie Ejaria among others but their leading light this season, Swift, could well be on the move as early as January.

He's out of contract at the end of this season and the Royals were hoping that a promotion push would persuade him to sign a new deal but, of course, with them in discussions with the EFL over a points deduction, such an aim this season looks hard to come by.

And, that said, Football League World can reveal a Premier League quartet of Burnley, Wolves, Crystal Palace and Norwich City are all keen on trying to get a deal sorted in the winter window before potentially getting him on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.

It just remains to be seen, then, if Reading try to sell him in the January with that in mind to at least get some kind of fee.
