Wolves and Middlesbrough are keeping tabs on Rochdale centre-back Ryan Delaney, a source close to the player has confirmed to Football League World.

The 21-year-old only joined League One outfit Rochdale last month from Burton Albion, but his commanding presence at the back and mature performances have caught the attention of teams in the Championship.

Delaney, a Republic of Ireland under-21 international, made 33 appearances for Cork City last year whilst on loan from Burton, and he excelled during his time at Turner's Cross.

The 6ft 5 defender mainly operates as a centre-back but can be utilised as a right-back if needs be, so he would represent a useful squad addition for either Wolves and Middlesbrough.

Both Championship sides are chasing promotion to the Premier League, as Nuno Santo's Wolves sit top of the league table having amassed 71 points so far in what has been a stellar campaign from the Black Country side.

Meanwhile, Boro's 2-1 win over Reading on Saturday means the side sit in ninth spot, just four points off of a play-off spot.
