Goalkeeper Rob Elliot is training with Watford ahead of potentially signing a short-term deal at the club, sources have exclusively informed Football League World.

The Hornets are without first-choice goalkeeper Ben Foster who is set for a spell on the sidelines due to a broken finger.

Thee club are looking to fill the void left by Foster and are looking to tie up a deal for former Newcastle shot-stopper Rob Elliot.

The 34-year-old was released from his contract at the Magpies last summer and has been searching for a new club ever since, with it now expected that he will secure a short-term contract at Vicarage Road.

Watford boss Xisco Munoz has been utilising Daniel Bachmann in between the sticks and only has Adam Parkes to call upon should anything happen to Bachmann, so the club feel a move for a more experienced goalkeeper is worthwhile.

The Hornets are unable to recall Pontus Dahlberg who is out on loan at BK Hacken too as he is also injured.

Munoz's side travel to the Den this evening as they take on Millwall in the Championship.
