Exclusive: Sunderland set for disappointment in pursuit of Sheffield United man

Sunderland remain interested in Sheffield United striker Daniel Jebbison, but a deal is unlikely to happen as things stand, Football League World can exclusively reveal.

Jebbison emerged onto the scene towards the end of last season, and became the youngest player to score on his first Premier League start in the Blades’ 1-0 win at Everton last May.

That attracted the attention of the Black Cats, who were linked with a move for the 18-year-old back in the summer transfer window.

Ultimately though, Sunderland were unsuccessful with that pursuit, with Jebbison instead joining another League One side, Burton Albion, on loan.

Since then, Jebbison has continued to catch the eye, with the striker scoring eight goals in 19 games for the Brewers during his time at the Pirelli Stadium.

With the teenager continuing to impress, Sunderland’s interest in Jebbison has continued.

Sources have told Football League World that the Black Cats are still trying to do a deal to bring the striker to the Stadium of Light, but that no progress towards such an agreement being reached has been made.

Following his first-team breakthrough with Sheffield United, Jebbison signed his first professional contract with the Blades back in May, securing his long-term future at Bramall Lane.
