It's no secret that Brentford have had some of the brightest young talent coming through their ranks in recent years, and it could be set to continue for years to come it seems.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World's Chief Editor Sam Rourke, Griffin Park favourite Sam Saunders has high-hopes for the club's young players in the future.

Saunders has recently taken up a new role with his former club, and he'll be their assistant coach for the B team in this year's campaign.

"We've got a few boys from this year's batch that have already gone on to sign professional contracts in the first-team, there are three lads that have done that this year.

"We've got eight or nine players that go away with their national teams for their respective age group. There is definitely a pool of talent there, but I wouldn't want to single one of them out for that pressure in the future."

The 36-year-old went on to admit that there is a pathway through to the first-team for the club's younger players in the B team, which will be promising to hear for the Griffin Park faithful.

"There are a couple of under 21 internationals that are of really good standard, so there is some quality within the group, without a doubt.

"There's about 14 or 15 boys that have gone through to the first-team from the B team to make their senior debuts. There is a pathway through. Just look at Chris Mepham last year, when he moved to AFC Bournemouth during the summer."

Brentford will be looking to get back to winning ways in their league campaign this weekend, when they travel to Oakwell to take on Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.
