QPR have had an excellent start to the season, and have surprised many as they sit in the play-off places after the opening eight games of the campaign.

Since Mark Warburton has been in charge, the R's have been on an upward run of form and the whole club looks to be in a more positive place.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World’s Chief Editor Sam Rourke, Brentford’s B team Assistant Coach Sam Saunders has offered his view on whether QPR could challenge for a place in the Premier League.

"With Mark Warburton, he's had success in the Championship before with Brentford and in their first season in the division he got them to the play-offs.

"That shows he's done it before, so why couldn't he do it again. I won't be popular saying that, what with the rivalry, but he's a really good manager and he gets them playing in a really nice way, attacking, front foot football.

"The league is starting to take shape now. If they go through October and into November time, still in and around the top six then I don't see why not."

The squad Warburton seems to have pulled together contains a great mix of Championship experience and youthful talent.

Players such as Nahki Wells and Jordan Hugill have proven in the past that they know where the back of the net is in this division, whilst youngsters Ilias Chair and Eberechi Eze are taking plaudits for their outstanding work in the middle of the park.

There's still improvement to be made, but QPR have shown signs of promise in the early proceedings of this latest Championship season.

We'll learn a lot more about Warburton's side this weekend as they get ready to host Slaven Bilic's unbeaten West Brom side on Saturday.
