Reading defender, Tennai Watson is attracting interest from a number of League One and League Two clubs, a source close to the player has exclusively revealed to Football League World Chief Editor Sam Rourke.

Watson has been training with Reading as they prepare for the new Championship season, but it seems as though his future remains away from the Madejski Stadium.

Competition for places at right-back is fierce in Jose Gomes' squad, with Andy Yiadom and Teddy Howe currently ahead of Watson in the pecking order.

It remains to be seen as to whether any interest in landing his signature is on a temporary or permanent basis, but the Royals could be tempted to move him on in the near future.

Watson spent last season on loan with AFC Wimbledon, making 28 appearances as they narrowly avoided relegation from League One.

In total, he's made seven first-team appearances for Reading since coming through to the first-team picture, but has never nailed down a starting spot with the Berkshire-based side.

Jose Gomes will be keen to trim the wage bill heading into the new season, as he looks to make new signings before the transfer window closes.

Reading get their 2019/2020 league campaign underway with a tricky fixture against Sheffield Wednesday at the Madejski Stadium, and it seems increasingly unlikely that Watson will be in the squad for the opening day of the season.
