West Brom are 11 points clear of third placed Fulham as we head into the busy festive period and are on course to make a return to the Premier League.

Boss Slaven Bilic has done a remarkable job since he was appointed in the summer and he has got the team performing to an extremely high level.

Whilst some of the attackers have rightly attracted a lot of plaudits, one of the standout players has been academy graduate Nathan Ferguson. The local lad was given his Albion debut on the opening day of the season and has gone on to perform consistently well for the Baggies.

So much so, there is genuine top-flight interest from the likes of Crystal Palace and Tottenham and with the 19-year-old's contract running out at the end of the season, there is a fear at The Hawthorns that he may go.

However, former midfielder Nigel Quashie exclusively told FLW’s Chief Editor Sam Rourke that the best option for Ferguson would be to remain with West Brom, whilst he also pinpointed one specific moment from earlier in the campaign that proved just how highly-rated the youngster is at West Brom.

"Obviously he went into that tackle and got a red card (vs Charlton) but what a big statement it was from Bilic by putting him straight back in the side.

"The boy has been a revelation, nothings fazed him, he just wants to play football. You can see by his body language, his demeanour and the way he goes about himself, he's been absolutely first class.

"That's a credit to the youth system as well because even when I was there the system has always been producing players. You've got Rekeem Harper, Kyle Edwards, there's a good youth system there but this boy has really taken it by the scruff of the neck and made his mark on the squad.

"Anybody that's looking after him will give him the right advice but for me personally, I'd say stay at West Brom, get your games in, enjoy your football, you're at a good club, they'll look after him and I just think it's a great time for him to kick on."
