Nigel Quashie has provided his assessment of Nottingham Forest’s top two credentials this term after the Midlands based club recently moved a step closer to catching up with the likes of West Brom and Leeds United.
Following a slump in form from Leeds in second place, Forest were able to take full advantage by defeating the Whites last weekend 2-0 at the City Ground to move to within one point of Marcelo Bielsa’s side and an all important top two place.
Moving into the round of midweek fixtures, Sabri Lamouchi will have no doubt have felt this his side have missed a golden opportunity to register another all important three points in the promotion race.
The midweek games saw his side lose 1-0 at home to Charlton Athletic, thus failing to capitalise on another slip up by Leeds, who could only draw with fellow promotion chasers Brentford.
The recent results leave the sides just two points apart as we head into this weekend’s round of fixtures and Quashie was quick to reflect on what he has seen from Forest, whilst also indicating how he feels about their chances of making the top two during an interview with Football League World’s Chief Editor Sam Rourke this week:
“Well there’s enough games to go and you know as you can see it’s been a difficult month for some teams in January, but you know they’re (Forest) picking up points and getting back at it.
“So, there’s a long way to go, I think there’s 14 games to go is there? There’s loads of points to play for and I’m sure there’s going to be a few more twists and turns along the way which is all part and parcel of getting promoted.”
