West Bromwich Albion are enjoying an excellent season so far under Slaven Bilic, with the Baggies on a six-match winning run which has established them amongst the front runners for automatic promotion.

The Baggies have become one of the most entertaining teams in the Championship so far this campaign, with the attacking trio of Grady Diangana, Matheus Pereira and Matt Phillips helping Bilic's side create numerous chances in the final third.

That has seen West Brom emerge as the most potent attackers in the division so far this term, having registered an impressive tally of 41 goals in their opening 20 Championship matches, which is at least seven more than any other side in the English second tier.

Given their form in front of goal so far it is no surprise that the Baggies have managed to claim 13 wins in their opening 20 matches, while suffering just a single defeat away to fellow high-flyers Leeds United back in October.

Since that defeat at Elland Road, West Brom have gone on a ten-match unbeaten run which has seen them create a large points cushion on the teams chasing the automatic promotion places and provided Bilic's side with some breathing room heading into the festive period.

A major factor in the Baggies finding some real consistency in the last few months, has been the emergence of Hal Robson-Kanu who had started the season as third choice up front behind both summer signings Charlie Austin and Kenneth Zohore.

Robson-Kanu, though, has made a real difference in the last few weeks initially from the bench coming on to score vital goals against Middlesbrough, Charlton Athletic and Stoke City, which has earned him a place in Bilic's starting line-up.

The Welshman has since scored in wins against Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City and Swansea City, while his work rate and ability to link the play in the final third has added an extra dimension to the Baggies' attack.

Austin, meanwhile, appears to have been inspired by Robson-Kanu's form with the striker managing to find his goal scoring touch in recent weeks, coming off the bench to score vital goals against Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City and Preston North End.

That leaves Bilic with something of a headache over who he should start up front for West Brom over the next few months, as they look to cement their place in the Championship's top two places.

FLW's Chief Editor Sam Rourke recently caught up exclusively with Nigel Quashie, who delivered his assessment of both Robson-Kanu and Austin managing to find some form recently.

As well as offering his verdict on who should lead the line for the Baggies over the next few weeks, saying: "I think with Charlie Austin his experience is absolutely vital.

"He obviously hasn’t played as much games at Southampton and he’s had to use games to get himself fit, and one thing you have to be careful about is players getting injuries, and I think Slaven Bilic has managed him really well.

“Obviously Robson-Kanu has just hit this form that no one would have expected, because you can’t take away his work ethic, but to add goals to that now I think he’s really adapted to the manager.

"And sometimes being an experienced player myself there’s just some managers you can’t click with and some managers you think you do, and then there’s some managers that know how to get the best out of you and Slaven Bilic has done that with Robson-Kanu.

“You have to play players on form I’m a firm believer and I’m not saying Charlie Austin isn’t on form, it’s just Robson-Kanu has come into his own at the moment, but there’s plenty of games for Charlie to be involved in and plenty of games for him to pass on his knowledge and experience, and he’ll be getting goals along the way as it goes along too.”
