Bolton have earned one point so far this season but find themselves still eleven shy of being at 0 and a long, hard campaign looks to be in store.

It's highly unlikely at the moment that they are going to stay up and, with the takeover taking more than long enough to be completed, we've seen Phil Parkinson run out of patience.

He resigned earlier this week after several years at the club where he had overseen promotion to the Championship prior, and it's perhaps no surprise that he has found things just too hard to continue with.

He can hold his head high for the way that he has conducted himself, though, and Michael Brown is someone that echoes that sentiment.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, Brown said:

"It was a hard job and I must say Phil Parkinson had held things together remarkably well, it was difficult circumstances so full credit to him and he wouldn’t have wanted to have walked away.

"However, I think he realised that he and his assistant would not have wanted that on their CV and it just became untenable.

"They were playing youngsters and there was no sign of what was going to happen next. It was affecting their careers and they had done all they can on no money so it’s time for somebody else to come in. I think the pair of them have made the right decision."
