Marcus Forss has opened up on his previous spell with West Bromwich Albion, with the young striker having spent time at the club's youth academy between 2012 and 2017.

The youngster moved to England as a largely unknown quantity, with the Baggies giving him his first chance to impress, before he made the move to Brentford at the back end of 2017.

This move has seen the Finnish striker take his fledgling career to new heights, with the Bees subsequently loaning Forss out this summer to League One outfit AFC Wimbledon after putting in some fine showings for the club's 'B team'.

The move has largely paid off for the 20-year-old so far, with the young hotshot having found the net on 10 occasions for the Dons, thus putting him amongst the most prolific finishers in the third division.

It all started from humble beginnings for the youngster, with his time with the Hawthorns outfit having laid the foundations for where he is today.

FLW Journalist Chris Thorpe sat down with the 20-year-old recently to discuss his time with the Midlands based club and Forss gave an insightful response as to how big the decision was for himself and his family.

"It was good and negative at the same time obviously.

"But I really enjoyed it as it was the making of me, to come to England from Finland to play for West Brom was a massive decision for me and my family, so it was very good but eventually I had to move on to Brentford.

"Brentford then showed me a clear plan of what they wanted to get out of me and that’s what you want to know as a footballer, you want to know what the club has planned for you."
