Luton Town are weighing up a potential January move for Torquay United striker Jamie Reid, sources close to the club have exclusively revealed to Football League World.
Reid has been in stunning form for the National League outfit this term, with the 25-year-old having netted 14 goals in his opening 20 appearances for the Gulls so far.
It appears that the former Exeter City man’s exploits haven’t gone unnoticed, with the Hatters now keeping tabs on the frontman’s progress following his superb start to the campaign.
Given the fact that Reid took the decision to drop down to non-league to carve out a reputation for himself, the opportunity to make the jump to the Championship may be too hard for the striker to turn down, particularly if Luton come calling.
Luton are in need of another proven scorer within their squad, with only James Collins really providing any form of consistency in front of goal for the Hatters thus far.
Given Reid’s height and aerial prowess, the striker could prove to be an ideal candidate to partner Collins in the Luton frontline, with Town boss Graeme Jones favouring a largely direct style of play this season.
It remains to be seen if the Hatters will look to firm up their interest in Reid, however the in-form front man will be looking to continue his purple patch in front of goal this weekend, when the Gulls take on Maidstone United in the FA Cup first round.
