Here at Football League World we’ve been speaking to former Brighton man Adam Virgo.
In earlier pieces, we’ve looked back at his career and seen his verdict on the Championship, but what about the race for promotion in League Two?
Here’s his take.
Adam, the League Two race at the top is very tight, who’s going up?
It’s a tight league with the automatic three and then the play-offs down to seventh.
If you look down as far as Carlisle you know if you’re about six points off the play-offs that’s nothing in the EFL.
It’ll take something extraordinary for Luton to not be promoted, I just think the sheer number of goals is going to get them over the line and the fact they’ve got one of the best defences.
I know Nathan Jones, he has done a great job there, they lost players like Jack Marriott and Isaac Vassell but James Collins and Luke Berry have come in and done well.
Notts County last year I thought no way, but Kevin Nolan’s gone in and done a good job. Stead and Ameobi are two solid players up front and then there’s Grant on the wings who’s a good player. The way they play will get them over the line.
Coventry, you never know what will happen with them. Defensively they’ve been ridiculous and solid but you just don’t know what is around the corner with them.
I saw a lot of Lincoln and I think they have enough to go up again. Danny Cowley is a good manager on good momentum.
Then there’s Accrington Stanley with Billy Kee and Kayden Jackson. The top three have probably got the best attacks in the league and so it’s no surprise that they’re up there. I saw Jackson at Wrexham coming through, him and Kee are working well together.
I think the top three will stay as they are and then Lincoln will win the play-offs. A lot of teams go from National League straight to League One, Bristol Rovers did it and I have a feeling Lincoln will be there or thereabouts.
