Les Reed is of the opinion that with a good summer transfer window under their belts, Charlton Athletic will be one of the favourites for promotion next season, he told Football League World exclusively in an interview.

The Addicks have got plenty to look forward to in this particular off-season and it's been a while since we've been able to say there are no real concerns about off-field matters as well.

Indeed, this summer is a chance for the club to really make a statement ahead of the new campaign with the way they put their squad together and Nigel Adkins and Thomas Sandgaard will be eager to do exactly that in the coming weeks and months before the new campaign gets underway.

For many, Charlton could be one of the sides to watch in the battle for promotion and that seems to be something that Les Reed subscribes to, too, with him telling Football League World exclusively they've got a real chance, especially if they get their summer business right:

"He's done it with Scunthorpe, he's done it twice with Southampton and I've worked with him and I know he works and I think that, given a fair wind, they've got every chance.

"I would love to have seen them getting those playoffs this year but it didn't quite happen.

"I think that the positivity going towards the end of the season means it's probably the first time for a number of seasons with Charlton that they'll come back with renewed vigour and if they do well in the transfer window I'm pretty sure they're pretty strong candidates for again up next season."

Sandgaard will be eager to show he's serious about funding Charlton's rise up the divisions and that could all start with good business this summer.

Let's see who they manage to bring in now they've got their retained and released list sorted.
