Former Stoke City midfielder Lee Hendrie has outlined what transfer business his former club needs to ideally conduct this summer, as they look to recover from what has been a poor campaign.

After conducting a wide array of new transfers last summer, the Potters would've been ideally hoping to be competing at the upper end of the table this term.

However things quite simply haven't gone to plan for the Stoke-on-Trent side, who through a lack on consistency and overly poor defending have seen themselves plummet towards the Championship relegation zone this season, thus seeing Nathan Jones replaced by Michael O'Neill back in November.

The Northern Irishman has come in and largely steadied the ship at the Bet365 Stadium, with Saturday's 5-1 win over relegation rivals Hull City having seen them rise up as high as 17th, thus putting two points between themselves and the bottom three.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World Chief Editor Sam Rourke, Hendrie was quick to speak out about what sort of business the club needs to do come the summer:

"Yeah, well they've got to make some vast changes I feel.

"You can't allow yourselves to fall away, with the experience they've got in that squad, there doesn't seem to be the right blend, there doesn't seem to be too many big hitters in the squad at the moment.

"I think there does need to be a massive clearout in the summer, they need a leader.

"They need to have a big look at the squad they've got and maybe bring ion some more players that are suitable for the Championship, with a lot of these players having not really grasped where they are this season."
