Brentford have seen another window where one of their key players has left for higher up – in this instance Chris Mepham joining Bournemouth.
Of course, the Bees are well-versed in adapting to such scenarios and it remains to be seen how exactly they are going to that this time around.
We caught up with Ian Holloway, then, to see what he made of their continued way of doing things…
“I can’t argue with the model they’ve got.
“The model obviously works and they have proven that but with the gates they are getting it is going to be tough for them if they don’t keep getting moves right, so I hope that they get that new stadium sorted quickly.
“With the financial scrutiny that’s around, you have to have a big crowd if you are going to be a big club. You can’t have a rich sugar daddy now that’s going to buy you success.
“So I think Brentford’s model is brilliant but it can be dangerous because you need to get every signing right and they have to adapt very quickly.
“I hope it continues there for them as it’s going but it’s a tough situation when you need a bigger crowd but I wish them all the best because they’ve been marvellous for years.”
