Discovery+ and Quest pundit Ian Holloway believes that Ian Evatt can take Bolton Wanderers all the way back to the Premier League.

The former Blackpool centre back, who played under Holloway, has made an outstanding start to life as a manager. Earning promotion from the National League with Barrow before getting Bolton out of League Two last season, Evatt's stock is very high in terms of Football League management.

Wanderers have their supporters dreaming of back to back promotions, demonstrating their class in thumping wins at Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic in the first quarter of the season and capitalising on the momentum they built in the second half of last term.

The Trotters have suffered three defeats in a row without scoring at the time of writing but will be confident of getting back to winning ways when they host relegation threatened Gillingham on Saturday.

When asked just how far Ian Evatt can take Bolton, Ian Holloway exclusively told Football League World:

"It's all about the relationships he builds with his team and he's picked up a sleeping giant. So who's to say he'll have to go anywhere else to get in the Premier League.

"Bolton could get there again. Ian will be taking each games as it comes, he'll be learning from everything that happens and I just think he needs a pat on the back for the style that his team plays with. He wants to out-score people."

The philosophy is clearly there in droves with Ian Evatt. If over the next couple of transfer windows the club can assemble a squad that is deep enough to compete at the top end of League One over 46 games then the Trotters could steamroll their way to the title.

Bolton came so close to going out of business before they fell to the fourth tier but the supporters are firmly looking up as Evatt leads the recovery.
