Discovery+ and Quest pundit Ian Holloway believes Slavisa Jokanovic is the right man for the job at Sheffield United despite some up and down form this season.

The Blades lost 2-1 at home to Millwall on Tuesday evening meaning their dash for a spot in the play-off places remains on hold for the time being.

United are still expected to be involved in a push for promotion by the end of the season with Jokanovic having to iron out a few teething problems from their drop back into the second tier.

It was a hard act to follow after Chris Wilder took the club from League One to a top half finish in the Premier League in just four seasons but there have been flashes of a side capable of returning to the top-flight this season.

When asked what he had made of Jokanovic's progress so far, Ian Holloway exclusively told Football League World:

"The way they came down, they were so down. It's a rebuilding job.

"I think it was a very tough take for anyone and I really like Jokanovic. I like the style he tries to play, I think he wants to dominate the ball, I think he wants to pin you back. It is that modern way of playing.

"I really like him, I think he's a class act. If I was a Sheffield United supporter, I'd have been very careful who I wanted to get the job after Chris Wilder, and I'd be delighted Jokanovic has got it."

Time will tell if the Serbian can get the best out of the Blades' squad but if his experiences with Watford and Fulham are anything to go by it will be well worth keeping faith in his methods.

Jokanovic is very strong minded and believes in his philosophy that has earned promotion to the Premier League on two occasions, despite the stuttering start it feels apparent that United will click at some point in the season.
