Discovery+ and Quest pundit Ian Holloway has admitted that he believes Queens Park Rangers could be in contention for a top-six finish this season.

After experiencing a positive end to the previous campaign, the Hoops have managed to illustrate some real signs of promise in the Championship during the current term.

Currently 10th in the second-tier standings, QPR will be hoping to push on under the guidance of manager Mark Warburton in the coming months.

The scale of the Hoops' success may depend on whether some of their key players are able to maintain their fitness.

Sam McCallum is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury whilst Stefan Johansen recently picked up a knock in the club's clash with West Bromwich Albion.

When you consider that QPR have the likes of Charlie Austin, Lyndon Dykes and Andre Gray at their disposal, there is every chance that the club could launch a push for a top-six finish as this particular trio have illustrated that they are capable of thriving at this level.

In an exclusive interview with Football League World, Holloway has suggested that the Hoops could be in contention to secure a play-off place this season.

The former QPR boss said: "I think it's going to be a tough season.

"I think it's going to be a lot closer than people think, there are a lot of really good sides in it [the Championship] and I think QPR are one of them.

"So I am expecting them to be up and around a run-in for the play-offs."

QPR will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to West Brom when they face Birmingham City at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium tonight.
