The EFL Awards took place in London on Sunday night as stars from across the three tiers congregated to celebrate another fantastic season across the divisions.

Among the guests, Hull City ace Jarrod Bowen who was included in the Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season as well as the overall EFL Team of the Season.

We were fortunate to catch up with the forward at the event, then, and he told us exclusively, first of all, that he was delighted at the nomination.

Speaking to FLW's George Dagless, he said:

"I'm very delighted, it's a very proud moment for me.

"It shows the hard work that I've put in has been recognised, so I'm delighted with that."

Hull, too, still have a chance of earning some glory at the end of the campaign as they look to gatecrash the play-off party in May.

Their form has picked up in recent matches and, ahead of the final weeks, Bowen feels that they still have a good chance.

He explained:

"We've won our last two games, we've got another one Wednesday night and then after that five games where every team we play is above us or in and around us so we've got nothing to lose.

"We know that and if we can get results in those games who knows where it can take us. Hopefully, others will drop points around us too."

Certainly, it's been a solid upturn in form since the start of the season where relegation might have been the main thing on the Tigers' minds.

Throughout it all, Nigel Adkins has proven a positive presence on the training ground, on the touchline and in press conferences, and that has worn off on the players, Bowen revealed:

"Sometimes you wonder why he's so happy!

"Every day he comes in he's got a smile on his face and he's bubbly and I think when he first arrived when we were struggling that is exactly what we needed.

"When you're losing games it's not a nice place to be but he was keeping positive and that rubbed off on the team.

"Come December when we went on that run, that was all down to him and the coaching staff and he's got the experience at this stage so we need to work off of that and do all we can to try and challenge."

Another trait of Hull's, obviously, is their attacking prowess but under Leonid Slutsky too many goals were getting shipped the other way.

Under Adkins, though, a better balance seems to have been struck, and Bowen subscribes to that:

"I think when we had Slutsky as manager we were involved in 4-3 games all the time, we were scoring but conceding a lot.

"The gaffer has been good with defensive philosophy and structure from back to front and on the counter we've got good attacking players and know we're always going to be able to cause problems - it's just being resolute because we know we can score in any game. Keep doing that, and who knows where we'll end up."
