Portsmouth's Gareth Evans has been in impressive form for Pompey this season and he is sure to play a starring role for Kenny Jackett's side as they hunt for promotion.

Evans recently scooped the PFA Fans' Player of the Month Award for November and it's clear to see why, as he had been their main outlet for goals, with three in all competitions.

Jackett's men face their toughest test of the season so far at the weekend as they take on Sunderland at Fratton Park, as two promotion contenders face off.

The 30-year-old revealed in an exclusive interview with Football League World's Jacob Potter that Portsmouth are full of confidence going into the game against Jack Ross' side: "We’re definitely confident going into this one, we’ve had a good week training coming off the back of the Barnsley result (a 1-1 draw), which wasn’t too bad.

"We’re certainly going to be confident given our recent good run of form and our league position going into the game.

"We’re hoping for the three points."

Evans also admitted the atmosphere at the club is a positive one and the midfielder and his teammates are confident that they can win promotion to the Championship this season: "Everyone’s confident that we can get promoted this season.

"The way we’ve been going about the season so far, the majority of the time we haven’t had to deal with too many disappointments.

"We’ve been winning a lot of our games, and that only breaths confidence and that’s reflecting in the changing room, day in, day out and we believe we can get promoted."
