Former Norwich City striker Dean Ashton says the Canaries will need to bring in "a couple" of new signings in order to maintain their promotion push.

Daniel Farke's side slipped out of the top two this weekend after dropping points in a 1-1 draw with West Brom at the Hawthorns with Sheffield United jumping ahead on goal difference, and Ashton thinks there is work to be done in the transfer window.

"I would like to see them bring in a couple more players to bolster the squad," the EFL on Quest pundit told Football League World.

"I think it showed recently when they do have some injuries, especially to their back four, they do look weakened.

"I think if everyone is fit, or the majority of the squad is fit they could push all the way to the end of the season. I just think it would be nice to have a couple more players to bolster that squad so if injuries do come about they can cope with them."

The draw against the Baggies meant the Canaries dropped out of the top two for the first time since the start of November in what has been a surprisingly impressive season from Farke's side.

Ashton made 44 appearances for Norwich after signing from Crewe Alexandra, scoring 17 goals before making the move to West Ham United.
