Forest Green Rovers are in talks with striker Matt Stevens over a new contract, sources have exclusively informed Football League World

The 23-year-old has been in hot form for the League Two leaders this season, scoring 17 goals in 25 appearances, but his future has looked a little uncertain as his deal with the South West club is set to expire in the summer.

It seems the issue could be sorted soon, however, as FLW has been exclusively informed that talks are underway between Stevens and Forest Green over a new contract.

The Englishman signed a three-year deal when arrived at the New Lawn Stadium from Peterborough United in 2019 but has had mixed fortunes, having been a regular fixture in the cut-short 2019/20 campaign before being sent out on loan for the second half of last season.

Rob Edwards appears to have got a tune out of him this term and Stevens' goals look set to be key to his side's promotion push.

Forest Green are four points clear at the top of the fourth tier table at the moment and will no doubt want to keep hold of the 23-year-old to help them finish the job this season and establish themselves in League One next term.
