Discovery+ and Quest pundit Jobi McAnuffhas paid tribute to Luton Town striker Elijah Adebayo for the way he has made the step up to the Championship with the Hatters.

Adebayo joined Luton from League Two side Walsall back in the 2021 January transfer window, signing for an undisclosed fee.

Having stepped up two divisions to join the Hatters, Adebayo scored five goals in 18 league games for the Luton during the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.

That is something he has now built on even more this season. Adebayo's goal in Luton's 3-1 at home to Middlesbrough on Tuesday night, was his eighth in 14 league games since the start of this season.

As a result, the 23-year-old certainly appears to have proved that he is capable of making an impact at Championship level, during his relatively short time in the division to date.

Now it seems as though McAnuff, who previously played against Adebayo for when the striker was still at Walsall, is impressed with the way he has coped with step up of not one, but two divisions.

Asked what he made of the way Adebayo had adjusted to life in the Championship, the former West Ham and Leyton Orient midfielder exclusively told Football League World: "I actually did see him previously and he was obviously very very good.

"He deserved his move but it is a bit of a jump up, so you're never sure, how quickly they're going to hit the ground running.

"But having come in in January and had that time to adjust to Nathan Jones and the way that he wants to play, I think you are seeing the fruits of that certainly this season.

"He's a real good good player, I think he's proved that he can play very very comfortably at this level and score goals, and he's been a really big part of their success so far this season."
