Stoke take on Bristol City this afternoon with the pressure firmly on Nathan Jones at the moment.

The Potters just have not seen an upturn in fortunes since his arrival during last season and there is unrest growing among the fan base.

For EFL pundit Dean Ashton, the manager has until next month to try and sort it out, but he has his doubts that he'll be able to do so.

He told Football League World exclusively:

"I'd be surprised to see him manager after October just because it's obvious that the players haven't been performing better than last season.

"I know that the supporters in certain games have felt they've played better and deserved better results but then there's been some really poor performances.

"I look at the players with the most experience and quality and wonder what the reason is that they're not performing. Eventually, it'll come down to the manager.

"He's been getting a bit tense in his interviews where he's had to constantly talk about Jack Butland and other situations and it's clear the high-pressure nature of the job is showing at the moment."

Certainly, a negative result against the Robins is not going to do him any favours this afternoon and it remains to be seen just how the Potters get on in that regard.
