It's been a season of real turmoil for Notts County and it remains to be seen if it is going to end in disaster.

Promotion contenders for many at the onset, they have battled relegation all season and are on their third manager of the campaign under Neal Ardley.

Meanwhile, financial issues appear to be gripping Alan Hardy and, so, we asked EFL on Quest pundit Dean Ashton whether he could see the Magpies staying up.

He told us exclusively:

“It never helps when there are issues and stories off of the pitch but the big issue is whether they can get it right on the pitch.

“They’ve got to work with what they’ve got. Neal Ardley knows what it takes to get through it and grind out results – he did that at AFC Wimbledon – and so he’s got enough experience.

“There are so many experienced players in that squad that will have seen so much and done it all in their careers.

"I just think now is the time that when you have those players you can put good performances together."

"That dotted line seems to get sharper and sharper and I think it’ll be down to their senior players to get them out of trouble and they’ll just have to hope that the other teams around them have a real wobble that you can get at the end of the year.

“It’s been an incredible season for them because most thought that they would challenge for promotion this year and it’d be catastrophic if they went down.

“I think they will stay up because of the experience they’ve got in the squad and I think other teams will let the pressure get to them. It’s just whether they can take the opportunities that will come around to get them to safety, but I think they will.”
