Aston Villa are looking to try and get into the top six before the end of the season but they'll need to be a bit more consistent before they can achieve that.

The Villans drew at the weekend after a busy transfer window that saw the likes of Kortney Hause and Tom Carroll arrive - the latter very late on.

Here, then, we spoke to Dean Ashton to get his view on the move from the midfielder.

He told us exclusively:

"I’m not too sure about it to be honest.

"I didn’t see much sense in it because he’s very similar to Conor Hourihane but without the goal threat.

"He’s very good at picking the ball up from the defence and playing the ball and dictating play which is obviously important but I just thought that they would be looking for a really defensive-minded midfielder because that’s what they’ve lacked.

"They needed someone that can help them keep clean sheets and spot danger. I’m not quite sure whether he’ll be the person to make the difference this season for Villa."
