The Sky Bet Championship action returns this weekend alongside plenty of League One and League Two games and the Checkatrade Trophy final.

A busy few days await, then, and as we head into this most crucial part of the EFL season, Quest have taken the welcome move to extend their highlights show to two hours - allowing for more coverage in particular of the third and fourth tiers.

An exciting time to be a fan of an EFL club, then, and we managed to speak to regular pundits Dean Ashton and Ian Holloway exclusively to preview the extension.

Ashton told us:

"We're delighted. Colin [Murray] and all the analysts are delighted because it gives us a chance to deliver more in-depth analysis and coverage particularly of League One and League Two as well as the Championship.

"More than ever supporters are knowledgable in terms of tactics, patterns of play and manager approaches, so I think it is so important we're able to give as much insight as we can and to be in tune with what's going on.

"I think it's exciting for us to give the supporters a show that gives as much as we can."

Meanwhile, former QPR manager Ian Holloway said exclusively:

"I'm really proud of it because when you're on this show you get the chance to build it as you go along and not only do we research what happened in the game but we're also researching on the websites how fans are feeling about it and Colin is absolutely superb at that.

"We found that we were running out of time to show off the quality of the lower leagues and that is where the attention is going to go because let's be fair it's tighter than ever down there at the moment.

"There are some marvellous stories right now and the beautiful thing about English football is that it doesn't matter about just the top flight - people throughout the country are connected to all of these clubs because of so many reasons.

"We've got a chance now to cover it better and for longer and I think that is absolutely vital that Quest have recognised that and given us the time to do it."

Quest is extending its EFL highlights show, which airs Saturdays at nine o’clock, from this weekend.

Quest is available on Sky, Virgin, Freeview and Freesat and online at questod.co.uk and via the Quest OD app.
