Leeds United supporters will have been fearing the worst for Marcelo Bielsa's future at Elland Road after the Whites were beaten by Derby in the Play-Off semi-final.

But they will have breathed a sigh of relief as Bielsa penned a new deal with Leeds, to extend his stay with the Yorkshire-based club until the end of next season.

In an exclusive interview with Football League World's Jacob Potter, Sky Sports pundit, Danny Higginbotham issued his thoughts on Bielsa's new deal with Leeds and labelled it as 'a huge boost'.

"It's a huge boost, if you look at the fact that he didn't make wholesale changes. The large majority of the squad that got so close last season were together from previous seasons.

"We look a lot at managers when they're bringing players in, and I think one of the key aspects of being a good manager is and obviously Bielsa is one of the best around, it's about how they improve the players they've already got at the club.

The former Manchester United and Stoke defender felt that having the Argentine for another season could tilt potential new signings into Leeds' favour over the summer.

"Will he have money to spend, I don't know but Leeds United are a big pull and if you've got Leeds United with Bielsa as your manager as well, I think it just adds that little bit of extra in terms of bringing players in."

Higginbotham also admitted that securing Bielsa's future for another season could prove to be Leeds' best signing all season as they look to win promotion back into the top-flight.

"I'm a big believer in stability and continuity and it was vital that they were able to keep Bielsa at the club next season because what he did last season for Leeds.

"It could end up being Leeds' best bit of business they do over the summer because he's such an important figure at the club."

It's certain to be an interesting summer ahead at Elland Road, but Leeds supporters will certainly fancy their chances of returning to the Premier League next season with Bielsa in charge for another season.
