Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga is ‘firmly on the transfer radar’ of Premier League side Crystal Palace ahead of today’s transfer deadline, a source close to the player has exclusively told Football League World.
The 26-year-old has been a huge success at the Teesside club since making the £15m move from Nottingham Forest in 2017, establishing himself as arguably Boro’s most important player.
The DR Congo international has scored 32 goals in a total of 94 games for Boro, with 16 of those strikes coming last season as the North East club missed out on a Championship play-off spot.
Assombalonga has started this season off in prolific style too, scoring in Boro’s opening day 3-3 draw with Luton Town at Kenilworth Road, but is now attracting interest from the top-flight.
A source close to the player has exclusively revealed to Football League World that Crystal Palace are interested in signing the powerful forward, and Roy Hodgson’s side could potentially back up their interest with a formal offer before 5pm today.
Palace have already missed out on another exciting Championship attacker in Ollie Watkins this summer, but they now look set to switch their attention to Assombalonga, who has two years left on his deal at the Riverside.
