Charlton Athletic are back in the Sky Bet Championship for the new season and get their campaign up and running away at Blackburn Rovers this weekend.

It's been an eventful few weeks for the Addicks in the off-period, to say the least.

Some key players have gone and Lee Bowyer almost did as well, before ending up signing a new deal to extend his stay at The Valley.

It's almost time for the real business to begin, then, and, ahead of the weekend's matches, we were at the EFL on Quest launch at the home of the Addicks to ring in the new campaign.

There, we caught up with a man who knows the club very well indeed - Chris Powell.

Here's what he told us exclusively about how he thinks the Addicks can go about survival this season:

"I hope they've got the momentum to help them gain the stability they need.

"It's going to be very hard and Lee will know that because he has lost some players I am sure he would have wanted to keep like Bauer and Aribo.

"It doesn't look like they've spent a lot of money this summer so it'll be a case of finding a way to play and sticking to it like they did last season.

"I am sure they'll be hoping to carry on with that and I think if they compose themselves and use the momentum from last season they will be able to get the points they need to be safe.

"Hopefully, the fans will back them and they can build on last season's success."
