The 2019/20 Championship season is upon us, and West Brom are a team who will be looking to avenge for last season's play-off semi-final defeat to Aston Villa.

It's a new-look management setup at the Hawthorns this season, with former West Ham manager Slaven Bilic taking the reigns at the Midlands club.

Bilic has been busy working on his squad this summer in the transfer window, bringing in five new faces in the form of Kenneth Zohore, Romaine Sawyers, Darnell Furlong, Semi Ajayi and Filip Krovinovic, though the Croatian boss has had to deal with the departure of Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle, who both proved so pivotal last season.

The Baggies kick off their new season at the City Ground on Saturday night as they come up against Nottingham Forest, who like West Brom, are starting the season with a new manager at the helm in Sabri Lamouchi.

Football League World's Chief Editor Sam Rourke managed to catch up with ex-EFL boss Chris Powell to talk about West Brom's appointment of Bilic, and admits he can see the reasoning behind it, saying to Rourke:

"I can see why they've done it, I can see the attraction for Slaven.

"West Brom surprisingly let Darren Moore go, which I don't think anybody can fathom as to why because they were fourth and they finished fourth, it was just crazy.

"But, they've made their decision and I can see why Slaven has done it, they've got some good players there, they've managed to bring in some brilliant young players, but ultimately he is going to have to deal with the expectation at the Hawthorns."
