Championship newcomers Burnley are looking into a transfer deal for Scotland international centre-back Jack Hendry, sources have exclusively told Football League World.

New manager Vincent Kompany is looking to rebuild the Clarets' squad ahead of a promotion push as they seek a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

And the middle of defence is an area that needs seriously addressing due to the departures of Ben Mee and James Tarkowski, as well as rumours that Nathan Collins is a wanted man in the Premier League.

Kompany has now set his sights on 27-year-old Hendry, who has amassed 17 caps for his country, scoring two goals.

Hendry is a player that Kompany has already tried to sign in his managerial career for Anderlecht in recent times - he's currently plying his trade though at Club Brugge, who he signed for last summer following a spell at league rivals Oostende from Celtic.

Now, Kompany is set to make a fresh approach for Hendry as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of the new EFL season.
