It's safe to say that Blackpool have had their fair share of ups and downs in recent seasons.

One of their more recent positives came in the 2016/17 season, when the Tangerines won promotion back into League One in the most nerve-wracking of circumstances.

Blackpool beat Exeter City in the League Two Play-Off Final 2-1 at Wembley to clinch promotion back into the third tier of English football.

One player that played his part in that promotion-winning season and the Play-Off Final win over Exeter was Bright Osayi-Samuel, who came on as a first-half substitute after an injury to Blackpool captain Tom Aldred.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Football League World's Jacob Potter, Osayi-Samuel outlined his thoughts whilst entering the field of play early into Blackpool's biggest game of the season.

"I took it as a normal game, because it's different. When you start the game, you experience more of the emotional side, but when you're coming on as a substitute you don't have time for that because the game is going on and you need to be 100%.

"At the time, I took it as a normal game and to show how good I am in front of people."

The 22-year-old also went on to reveal what Gary Bowyer said to the Blackpool squad in the dressing room at half-time, with the scores level at the time.

"He said to keep playing how we're playing because we did play well and were creating chances. He just said to keep playing like we are, then the ability will show through and that's what happened."

The Tangerines went on to win the game 2-1 as they won promotion into League One. But Osayi-Samuel didn't remain a Blackpool player for very long after that win at Wembley.

The winger made four appearances for Blackpool in their League One campaign, before opting to move to Championship side QPR in September 2017.

"It was a tough decision to leave Blackpool, because obviously I started my career there and knew so many people as well. I felt as though it was the right time for me.

"I had played in League One and League Two, I just wanted to experience and better myself, show that I'm capable of playing in a higher division."

Keep your eyes peeled for the next segment of Jacob's interview with Bright Osayi-Samuel where he discusses his move to QPR in more detail, the relationship with (manager at the time) Ian Holloway, and his ambitions for the future.
