The rapid rise up the Football League for Bright Osayi-Samuel has been there for all to see, with the midfielder now playing for Championship side QPR.

But he started his career with Blackpool, coming through their academy teams, before making the step up to the first team.

The Nigerian-born winger made his Tangerines debut against Sheffield Wednesday in March 2015, in a game which they were narrowly beaten by the Owls.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Football League World's Jacob Potter, Osayi-Samuel expressed his emotions and making his first team debut for Blackpool back in the 2014/15 season.

"They (Blackpool) planned for my family to come over and that was literally the first time my mum had ever seen me play, and my sisters. It was a great feeling just to play mens football at the time, it was a great opportunity. It was an emotional time."

The 22-year-old has progressed successfully through the academy ranks with the Tangerines, and Osayi-Samuel and labelled the opportunity presented to him by Lee Clark as 'a great feeling'.

"Of course, at the time, I never thought I would get that opportunity so early into my career.

"There was so many things going on at the time with the club, so there was one training session where Lee Clark was watching us train and I didn't even realise he was there, and I trained very well that day, and from then on he gave me the opportunity. It was a great feeling."

Osayi-Samuel was given his first team debut for Blackpool by Lee Clark, and the winger was full of praise for his former manager, and issued an insight into what the 47-year-old said to him in one particular game.

"I think at the time for me, he just showed how much he loved giving young players an opportunity.

"I remember the one time where I was on the coach playing against Blackburn away, and I didn't play that game, and I walked onto the bus and he pulled me over and said 'you know Demarai Gray? I'm the one that gave him his debut, you'll be next if you keep playing the way you are."

"From then on, I knew that the manager was confident in playing young players. That gave me confidence and he was a great manager."
