Brentford are close to securing a deal to sign West Ham defender Winston Reid, sources have exclusively confirmed to Football League World.

It is expected that the Bees will sign the New Zealand international on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old centre-back had been out on loan at Sporting Kansas City last year but he returned to the London Stadium in December after the MLS side decided not to sign him on a permanent deal.

Reid has found himself well down the pecking order in David Moyes' side at the moment, with Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna cementing themselves as the starting duo at the back.

Futhermore, the Hammers also have Balbuena and Diop to call upon so Reid's chances of first-team football are limited.

Thomas Frank's Brentford have been keen to add a new centre-back, especially following the injury to Pontus Jansson and they are set to bolster their ranks with the addition of the experienced Reid.

If signed today, Reid could be in line to feature in Brentford's Sky Bet Championship clash with Bristol City on Wednesday.
