Exclusive: Blackpool lining up new contract for influential senior figure

Blackpool are plotting a new contract for manager Neil Critchley as they bid to secure his long-term future, Football League World can exclusively reveal.

The Tangerines have enjoyed great fortune under Critchley since his arrival, with him helping them into the Sky Bet Championship after winning the Sky Bet League One play-off final last season at Wembley.

Indeed, it’s certainly been a positive period in the club’s modern history, particularly after what had gone before, and it is now the case that the Seasiders want to reward the former Liverpool employee with a new long-term deal, Football League World understands.

Critchley currently has around 18 months left on his present contract with the club but his work has naturally attracted admirers from further than Bloomfield Road, and Simon Sadler is eager to get an extension sorted for him with that in mind, ideally before the turn of the year at the end of next month.

Certainly, you could not argue that Critchley does not deserve such a reward for his work over the last couple of years, with Blackpool playing an attractive style of football and more than holding their own in the second tier this season, with them currently just a point outside the play-off places.
