Blackburn Rovers are among the clubs taking a look at Manchester United defender Phil Jones, Football League World has been told exclusively.
Jones’ contract at Old Trafford expires in 2022/23 and a number of sides are taking a look at him as he bids to reignite his career which has stalled at Manchester United in recent years.
Indeed, the likes of Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Harry Maguire are all ahead of him in the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and it seems more than plausible he’ll be leaving sooner rather than later.
A number of clubs have been linked with him, then, and Football League World has been told exclusively that among them is his former side, Blackburn Rovers.
Jones was at Rovers as a youngster with him working up through the ranks as a kid before he caught the eye with his performances in both midfield and defence at senior level, with him attracting interest from both Manchester United and Manchester City at the time.
It’s likely other sides will be able to offer him more in the way of financial incentive but, if he fancies heading back to his old stomping ground, it appears Rovers would have open arms.
