A host of Sky Bet Championship and Sky Bet League One sides are showing a keen interest in Exeter City star Matt Jay ahead of the January transfer window, Football League World can reveal exclusively.

The attacking midfielder has shone for the Grecians in recent seasons and has started this campaign in fine fashion, too, bagging four goals so far in Sky Bet League Two and registering a further assist in the fourth tier as well as that.

At 25-years-old, he's getting towards his prime years as a player and that is reflected in his form, with it now attracting the interest of a real glut of clubs higher up the EFL pyramid.

Football League World has learned exclusively that around 20 clubs have watched him already this season playing for Exeter whilst the likes of Barnsley, Millwall, Ipswich Town and Portsmouth are the keenest on him, ahead of a potential swoop in the January window.

Certainly, it looks as though there could be a real fight on Exeter's hands to try and keep him in the coming market, and it just remains to be seen if any side from the Championship or League One does lodge a firm bid for his services.
