Aston Villa are the latest club to show an interest in Charlton Athletic midfielder Joe Aribo, a source close to the Midlands club has exclusively confirmed to Football League World.

Villa scouts are set to watch the Camberwell-born star this Sunday at Wembley, as the Addicks face Sunderland in the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final.

Interest in the midfielder has grown this season, with a plethora of clubs eyeing up the talented star, notably Arsenal and Man City have been linked with the player in recent weeks, though there is not just domestic interest, with clubs from Germany and Portugal also keen on the midfielder.

Aribo has scored 10 goals and provided five assists for Lee Bowyer’s side this season, and his lively, dynamic performances have certainly caught attention, making him one of League One’s hottest properties.

The 22-year-old joined the south London side four years ago from non-league outfit Staines Town, and is now an influential cog in the Charlton side, however Aribo’s contract is set to run out this summer, with no new deal at The Valley on the horizon.

Aston Villa may be considering a replacement for Jack Grealish, who could leave Dean Smith’s side if they fail to achieve promotion in the Championship Play-Off Final on Bank Holiday Monday against Derby.

The Aston Villa star will want to be playing in the Premier League next season, to ensure he has the best chance of being involved in Gareth Southgate’s England setup.

Whether Aribo is being earmarked as a Grealish replacement or as another addition to Dean Smith’s side is unclear at present.
