With the European transfer window still open until the start of September, Andy Couzens has predicted there will be some more movement out of Elland Road this summer.

Despite the significant squad turnover since last season, there are still a number of players at the Yorkshire club who do not appear to be in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans.

Vurnon Anita, Pawel Cibicki and Ouasim Buoy are three of a number of members of the squad that are understood to not have any part in Bielsa’s plans moving forward but are yet to leave the club.

Speaking exclusively to FLW, Couzens was asked whether he felt players that were not in Bielsa’s plans were likely to leave the club before the European transfer window closed.

He replied: “Yes, I would imagine so.

“I don’t know why a player would want to stick around if you’re not playing and you’ve got a chance of a move.

"Anita might be a little bit different, he might want to stay in the country, so that obviously can’t happen.

"If you want to play football and an offer comes in then I can’t see why they wouldn’t move.”

Couzens suggested that Bielsa wanted to reduce his squad down and ensure they all had the same goal.

He said: “I think the manager wants a trimmer squad, he wants all good eggs. I mean that in a nice way, a squad where nobody’s coming in and bad-mouthing people off or whatever it may be. You need everybody together.

“He wants a smaller squad of maybe 25/26 players where they’re all thinking exactly the same thing and that is promotion.

“If you have got two or three people who aren’t involved then there is a little bit of a negative that comes from that.

“I can quite clearly see that if people haven’t been moved on already then they would be moved on or maybe even the club will offer to look at cancelling their contracts so they can go somewhere else.”

“As a player, if you’re not involved you want to be moved on and you want to be playing football.”
