Andy Carroll was offered around and spoke to several Championship sides towards the end of the summer window with him eager to sort his future as soon as possible, Football League World can reveal exclusively.

The striker was linked with a late move to Reading by Football Insider towards the end of the summer market, with him looking for a new side after his release from Newcastle United.

That move, of course, never came to pass but Carroll is still searching for a new side and Football League World understands that the striker wants to get something sorted in the very near future as he plots a return to playing.

This site has been told that several Championship sides held talks with Carroll over a potential move and that he may even end up returning to Newcastle on a new deal, so there are several routes that the forward could still head down.

He'll want to get something lined up sooner rather than later now, though, with the season underway and clubs beginning to get into a rhythm.

He could still have something to really offer the right club, it just remains to be seen who ends up giving him the opportunity to show that.
