A big summer awaits Middlesbrough Football Club, who will be hoping for a fresh start ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

The Teesside club's season culminated in bitter disappointment last time out, and are now on the lookout for a new manager having let go of Tony Pulis following the expiry of his contract at the Riverside.

Plenty of names have been linked with the vacant role, but their lengthy search now looks to be coming to a conclusion, with the Gazette claiming that an appointment is set to be made this week.

The man who looks most likely to take the reins of the North East club is Jonathan Woodgate, who is certainly no stranger to the Boro faithful.

The 39-year-old, who made over 110 appearances for the club as a player, has been part of the coaching staff for the last couple of years, and looks to be the prime contender to replace Pulis.
