Sunderland have revealed that over 34,000 tickets have been sold for their Boxing Day clash against Bradford City at the Stadium of Light.

The League One side have received tremendous support this season and they are on course for a huge crowd when they face the lowly Bantams in two weeks.

The club revealed the news on Twitter this evening, adding that they are hoping to get 40,000 showing up to support Jack Ross' men.

Despite a hectic summer that saw a high turnover of players after a double relegation, Ross has transformed the mood around the club.

That has been evident with the support they have had, whilst the players are doing their bit on the pitch too.

Another example of the togetherness around the club surrounded tickets for this game, with some fans buying tickets and donating them to the club's charity so they could be passed on to those who wouldn't normally go.

The Black Cats are third in League One but have two games in hand on Luton, who are only a point ahead.

The Verdict

This is a good time to be a Sunderland fan and you have to be pleased for the supporters after a tough few years.

To get 34,000 in League One is hugely impressive and shows the loyalty they have for the club and it's probably going to be around 40,000 when the game comes around.

You also have to praise new owner Stewart Donald and manager Ross, who have done so much in a short space of time in terms of changing the feeling around the club.
