A number of Sheffield United fans have been reacting to the latest update from BBC Sheffield’s Andy Giddings that the Blades are nearing the appointment of Slavisa Jokanovic as Chris Wilder’s successor.

It has been a lengthy procedure from Sheffield United so far to try and select who is the best manager to come in and replace the highly influential presence of Wilder around the club. However, Jokanovic’s name has been consistently linked with the job and it has seemed like he might be the man they turn to try and get them back in the top-flight.

Jokanovic is a manager with promotion-winning experience having taken both Watford and then Fulham to the Premier League in his previous roles in English football. The Serbian has been managing more recently in Qatar with Al-Gharafa, but he could now be ready to return to the Championship and try and lead another promotion attempt.

The 52-year-old is a manager with a reputation for playing front foot attacking football, and that could mean he is well suited to the players that he will have available at Sheffield United in the Championship. The Blades will need to try and get this confirmed as soon as possible now so they can start to plan their transfer moves.

Giddings’ latest report confirms that the Blades are close to agreeing a deal with Jokanovic, while he also outlined that a move could even be sorted out by the end of the week.

Many Sheffield United fans were thrilled with this latest update and believe they could have found the right person to replace Wilder.
