Cardiff are set to announce the arrival of 19-year-old former Watford striker Ogo Obi, according to TEAMTalk.

The Nigerian frontman has been without a club since leaving the Hornets in the summer and has trials with a host of clubs, including fellow Championship outfit Bolton Wanderers.

None of those teams have decided to take a punt on the striker but Neil Warnock has clearly seen something in the striker that he likes.

The run of form Cardiff are currently on is the worst streak of results that a side managed by Warnock has been on in nine years and the former Sheffield United boss is looking for some form of inspiration to get results back on track.

The Verdict

Obi had trials with Manchester United when he was 16, so there is clearly a talented player in there and Warnock has a habit of coaxing quality out of players who have lost their way slightly.

It would be a big ask for the Nigerian to come in and inspire Cardiff straight away but if he can offer competition for places or energy off the bench than Warnock will see the deal as worthwhile already.
