Stoke City chief executive Tony Scholes has revealed that there isn't an agreement in place that would allow Benik Afobe to join Bristol City on a permanent basis.

After falling out of favour under Nathan Jones, the 27-year-old joined the Robins on loan for the 2019/20 campaign way back in August.

The striker hit the ground running at Ashton Gate, scoring three goals in five games for Lee Johnson's side before suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury which ruled him out for the season.

Afobe has since returned to first-team training with the Robins, and he will hope to play a part in helping them secure a play-off place with nine Championship matches this term.

But in terms of Afobe's future at the bet365 Stadium, Stoke chief executive, Tony Scholes, has revealed that there is no agreement in place that would allow the forward to join Bristol City for good.

Speaking at a fans' forum, via the club's official Twitter page, Scholes said: "Benik Afobe to Bristol City is not a done deal. Benik is back in training and the loan is still in place.

"The loan expires at the end of June and afterwards at the moment he will return to us."

After finding his feet in front of goal before picking up an injury, the return of Afobe is something that would potentially divide the opinions of Stoke fans.
