Brentford striker Marcus Forss has revealed what he believes to be the reason behind his recent success whilst out on loan with AFC Wimbledon.

The Finnish forward has been in fine form for the Wombles but believes that being rewarded with a four-year deal at Griffin Park before the move has helped him no end at Kingsmeadow.

“Signing that four year deal is massive for me," Forss told South London Press.

"It means that Brentford trust me, and coming here knowing that this team trusts me as well is a massive boost for my confidence. You can see that out on the pitch, I’m really enjoying myself."

Forss has scored seven times in League One since making the season-long move in the summer, including a hat-trick against Southend United a few weeks back.

He originally signed for Brentford's B team back in the summer of 2017 on a free transfer from West Brom, graduating to the first-team last summer.

But after playing just nine times for the first-team, and scoring twice, it was decided that he would benefit from a move away - with Ollie Watkins and Niko Karellis ahead of him in the pecking order.

The verdict

It is great to the youngster playing with so much confidence and enjoyment.

Forss is clearly an excellent talent and it is obvious that Brentford still value him highly, so it was no surprise to see him rewarded with a new deal in the summer.

It looks like being a very smart move as well with Forss seeming to improve with every match that he plays and the Bees look set to benefit.
